Gregory George MD PhD

founding principal of SurgCenter Development, partners with local surgeons to create physician-owned and operated ASCs. Dr. George graduated from M.I.T., received his medical degree from Duke University, and earned a Ph.D. from Duke in the field of ocular physiology. As an Ophthalmologist with a very busy practice and high surgical volume, Dr. George recognized the necessity for surgeons to have more control over their daily schedule, surgical time, operating room protocols, and surgical staffing. Under Dr. George’s leadership, SurgCenter Development has developed over 80 successful, profitable, physician owned ASC’s. Nearly 100% physician, patient, and staff satisfaction combined with state of the art highly profitable facilities, establish Dr. George and SurgCenter Development as clear leaders in the industry.

Sean O'Neal

is a founding principal of SurgCenter Development with over 30 years of experience in health care management. As a hospital CEO for over 20 years, Mr. O’Neal was a true pioneer in bridging the gap between physicians and hospital administration by developing numerous physician joint ventures. Mr. O'Neal completed postgraduate studies in Health Services Administration at California State University, Northridge, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the California Association of Hospitals and Health Systems. One of Mr. O’Neal’s physician joint ventures was an ASC he developed with Ophthalmologist Gregory George, MD PhD. The two went on to form SurgCenter Development and to date have developed over 80 successful, profitable, physician owned ASC’s. Under Mr. O’Neal’s leadership, SurgCenter Development enjoys nearly 100% physician and patient satisfaction and is positioned as a true leader in the ASC industry.

William Gueck MD

graduated from St. Louis University Medical School and trained in Internal Medicine. After further training in Emergency Medical for the U.S. Air Force, he became Director at Scott Air Force Base. He continued in emergency medicine in St. Louis for over 15 years. In recent years, Dr. Gueck has been involved in the development of numerous ambulatory care centers as a Project Manager for SurgCenter Development.

Steve Hammerstrom DPM

received his medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, IA. He served his podiatric surgical residency at J.L. Pettis Memorial Hospital, V.A., Loma Linda, CA. He is a founding partner in Comprehensive Foot Centers which serves six offices in the Kansas City area, and has been in private practice for over 15 years.

Stacey Berner, MD

Dr. Berner is the medical director of the Hand Centers at Carroll Hospital Center and Northwest Hospital Center in Maryland. He also serves as the chief of the division of hand surgery and the medical staff at Northwest Hospital Center. Dr. Berner has a professional interest in treating athletic injuries and performing minimally invasive upper extremity surgery. He helped develop and pioneer new techniques in hand and wrist arthroscopy for treating wrist ganglion cysts and thumb arthritis. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Berner serves on the editorial board of The Yearbook of Hand Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Berner earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and completed his residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He also completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Christopher Urban, MD

Dr. Christopher Urban received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. While at Jefferson, he was an active member in the AOA medical society. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Duke University. Following residency, Dr. Urban remained at Duke for his orthopedic and neurosurgical spine fellowship. Since then, he has been in private practice with Bay Area Orthopaedics. His surgical practice has remained focused on minimally invasive spine surgery. Outpatient spine surgery has become a significant portion of Dr. Urban's practice. After partnering with SurgCenter in 2007, he has worked closely as a member of the SurgCenter development team. This relationship has afforded him the experience of being part of SurgCenter as both a surgeon partner, as well as, a development partner. He now spends the majority of his time with SurgCenter developing and managing surgical centers throughout the United States.

Michael Hogan

Michael Hogan brings 28 years of healthcare experience to SurgCenter Development. He has worked extensively with physicians in the fields of orthopedics, pain management, otolaryngology, and cardiology clinical trials management. He has also held various positions in market development and business management. His long term and broad based experience has been put to good use at SurgCenter. He has been instrumental in the development of numerous ambulatory surgery centers, and is currently working on others in several Midwestern states as a development partner.

Peter Roisman JD

received his B.A. from Amherst College in 1982 and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1986. He spent most of his business career in the field of sports law and has represented Hall-of-Fame athletes and coaches in basketball, golf and hockey. Mr. Roisman served nearly 20 years as the National Secretary of the 1200-member Sports Lawyers Association. Always an entrepreneur, Mr. Roisman has invested in and helped build a wide variety of businesses, now including two healthcare related companies. He joined SurgCenter Development in 2009 and is currently developing ambulatory surgical center projects in Utah, Florida, Maryland, Texas, Indiana and Kentucky.
